Slovensko podeželje in narave

Slovenian countryside and nature.

I've already shown...
and Ljubljana, the lovely capital of Slovenia;
but I haven't shown any of
Slovenia's beautiful nature and countryside yet.
Slovenia has so much unspoilt nature worth discovering.
There's Triglav national park, located in the Julian Alps
in the North-west of Slovenia and named after Triglav,
the highest mountain in Slovenia in the heart of the park.
Triglav is also the national symbol of Slovenia.
The Julian Alps are named after Julius Caesar.

There are glacier lakes. Lake Bled is one of those.

There's the Pokljuka plateau with it's pine forests and alpine meadows.

A lovely wooden cottage on the Pokljuka.

There's Vintgar gorge where you walk on
the specially constructed wooden paths that
run against the rocks and sometimes over the river Radovna,
searching it's way through the narrow gorge.

There are stunning views once you've reached a mountaintop
after a long walk or
many hairpin turns by car...

There are the constructions that can be found all over the countryside.
These are hay drying racks (Kozolec), typical for Slovenia.

And of course there are the wildflowers
in meadows or along a path or road...

It was only while looking at the above picture back home
that I noticed how many insects were
crawling through the flower....
Hope this didn't freak you all out
but I just had to show it ;-))

That's it for now,
there are more wildflowers to come!

Bye,
Marian
