Yesterday, the last bits of snow melted
and even the sun came popping from behind the clouds
from time to time, luring me outside into the garden.
The garden is really swamped and it's probably
not the best idea to walk on the grass too much now
but I just had to take a quick closer look;
wouldn't be possible to stand on one spot too long
as you might have to leave without wellies then,
for these were constantly sucked into the soil.
It's a weird thing to experience.
You just have to keep moving,
even when standing still,
constanty pulling your boots out of the soil.
But it was all worth it and I discovered this
first crocus abloom.
There are of course the snowdrops,
keeping their flowerleaves still tightly closed for now.
And guess what else brings some colour
into the garden?
Right! A Ladybird coming out of its shelter
to check the situation out there I guess.
Look who else is back.
I hadn't seen the 'Ladybird on our garden bench' since winter hit us
but yesterday, there it was again.
Could this be a sign that spring is really on its way?
Could this be a sign that spring is really on its way?
More colour comes from the Primula
I found at the garden center.
No tulips, no spring bulbs almost abloom to put inside the house
but large tables with a joyful mix of brightly coloured Primula.
I asked the lady of the shop and she said these were
flowers for outside and they could take a bit
of cold weather and would keep blooming
for a whole season but aren't perennials.
The whole space was filled with the colurful mix.

I doubt it anyone could leave there
without taking some of the little pots home,
which is exactly what I did.
While taking that walk into the garden
I looked for the Primula Denticulata Lilac
I planted there last year but there was nothing,
not even a tiny beginning of a leaf showing.
I'm afraid that will be one more disappointment
when it comes to trying out plants into our difficult garden.
The moment I was inside again I had another look on
the internet to make sure those Primula are plants
that like shadowy places and don't mind wet soil,
and they are, so they should really feel good in our garden
but obviously they don't. Oh well, we'll keep on trying.
Have a beautiful weekend,
Marian

Amazing photos! These bright and cheerful! Photo from the ladybug is a miracle!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou have a wonderful blog! I love flowers!
Your yellow crocus is so bright it is like the sun you mention popping out from behind the clouds :) Thank you for all these cheerful bright colours, they have brightened up my day.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHow exciting to see the beginnings of spring - amongst the mud and waterlogged grass. We don't have those lovely large red ladybirds in Australia but I love the look of them! Lots of promise in your garden and brilliant colours in your new primulas - what a joy they must be to have around. Are you going to plant your primulas out or keep them inside?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWow, prachtige reeks foto's. Die sneeuwklokjes met druppels zijn super ook!
